Synthetic Cell

The last week, a group of scientists make for first time in history a cell which are controllated by a complete synthetic genoma, this genoma was design, synthesis and assembly in J. Craig Venter laboratory's , this group was the same in decrypts the genome code, and now they create a whole new genoma with 1.08 Mpb (1.08 million of pair bases), this genoma give to the new cells a defined phenotypic and are capable of continuous self-duplication.

This genoma was created using a chemical synthesis of four nucleotides of DNA sequences and then this pieces was assembly to created a new code to be transplanted to a cell recipient, who was complete controlled by this DNA.

The potential of this technology is huge, because now we can design a cell which we need , and the cell type that fail in some disease, like a neuron, a hepatocyte, muscle or any other that we want.
